Toby is Two!

A little belated, but our baby boy turned two years old on May 1st. I made him a small layered cake. Vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. He got lots of presents and enjoyed having the birthday song sung just for him. He’s very advanced for his age. He knows colors and shapes and speaks in full sentences. Toby has also decided to live up to the terrible twos. He’s sweet and happy one minute, then pinching or hitting everyone he can reach. Thanks to his siblings almost constant harassment, he’s learned to stick up for himself. He screams, “Go away!” and will push the offending sibling.  However, if one of us gets  hurt, he’s the first one there with a hug and a kiss.  I have no words for how beautifully this tough little love bug has completed our family. He’s just so amazing to spend time with, to watch grow and change...I’m so happy he picked our family. I love you, Tobias Wolfgang. Happy birthday, little man!

Happy 9th Birthday, Ani Rose!

On Monday, April 20th, my beautiful daughter, Ani Rose turned 9 years old. The celebration wasn’t quite what she had in mind. She is a social butterfly and wanted to have a girls’ day out with friends. Instead she had to stay at home with her family, but I think we did a pretty good job making it a special day. I decorated our kitchen and made the traditional birthday scones. She still had to do schoolwork, but her teacher made a webpage for the kids in her class to wish her a happy birthday. For dinner, Ani requested meatloaf and for her “cake”, she chose confetti cupcakes with chocolate frosting. We bought her a lot of gifts.  As far as my only daughter getting another year older...it’s always so hard for me. I want my babies to slow down. I don’t know how these years can fly by so quickly.  Every picture I took of her on Monday looked much older than her nine years. Other than that, I am so blessed to have this child in my life. She is the kindest human being.  She radiates love and patience for everyone and she is truly beautiful, inside and out.

Quarantine Haircut

Since none of the hair salons we go to are open and Todd’s hair was getting more than a little wild...I cut his hair. I followed along with a YouTube video, which I’m sure made him feel completely confident in my skills, and I cut away. I have to say it looks really good. It’s helpful that I’m extremely OCD (as most nurses are).  Looking good, tmm! 😘

For The Love of Food

So, the kids’ school and daycare are closed and Todd and I have decreased our days at work as much as possible. The coronavirus has left us all a little scared with the uncertainty of it all. Since I am home more, I have been cooking more. I have also noticed how much the children in this house eat. I am most surprised that our tiniest family member seems to eat the most out of everyone. So, a post of Toby and one of his favorite things (food!) seemed in order.

This boy loves food!
